On May 1, 2023, Zhangzhou Customs issued the first certificate of origin for the China-Nicaragua Free Trade Agreement's early harvest arrangement to Zhangzi Trading Co., Ltd. in Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province.
The batch of goods consists of mushroom and yam canned goods valued at approximately 130,000 yuan. With this certificate, the goods can enjoy a 10% and 15% tariff reduction, respectively, upon import into Nicaragua. It is estimated that a total tariff reduction of over 16,000 yuan can be achieved. Starting from May 1, Nicaragua has implemented a zero tariff on goods under 78 tariff line items, including mushrooms and garlic, imported from China, with reduction rates ranging from 5% to 15%.
"The company mainly engages in canned export trade, and we have previously exported mushroom and yam canned goods to Nicaragua. Upon customs notification, we learned that both mushroom and yam canned goods fall within the reduced tariff scope. This will be very helpful for our future expansion of exports to Nicaragua," said Chen Junxing, the person in charge of Chenzi Trading Co., Ltd. The company promptly obtained the certificate of origin, enabling them to immediately benefit from the tariff reduction under the China-Nicaragua Free Trade Agreement's early harvest arrangement, further enhancing the competitiveness of their exported products in the Nicaraguan market
